Access to services for YPLHIV embedded in Kenia's revised Education Sector Policy

February 18, 2015

Access to services for young people living with HIV is one of the pillars in the revised Education Sector Policy on HIV and AIDS in Kenia.

Education plays a critical role in reducing the impact of HIV and AIDS in the society. The Ministry of Education, Science & Technology in collaboration with its partners has developed the Revised Education Sector Policy on HIV and AIDS, 2013 to address emerging issues in education.

Among others UNESCO together with partners in the "Access, Services and Knowledge (ASK) programme, what young people want, what young people need", have vastly contributed to the revision of this policy document. The policy document has been disseminated on national and district level in Kenia and is currently being implemented by the ASK partners. One of the issues in the policy addressed as being important is access to services for young people living with HIV. An excellent result that will have a meaningful impact!
