Joint NGO Statement calls for continued Dutch Leadership in AIDS Response

April 8, 2015

Today, at a high level meeting in The Hague, The Netherlands, the Dutch government will be called on to demonstrate leadership to end the AIDS epidemic.

The HIV/AIDS Platform The Netherlands calls in a joint NGO statement for investments in populations and areas where the needs remain urgent and where the Netherlands can have the greatest impact:

  • key populations (LGBT’s, sex workers and people who use drugs),
  • women and girls,
  • Middle Income Countries,
  • the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

The statement will be handed over to Dutch Members of Parliament during a meeting in which Michel Sidibé from UNAIDS, Minister Ploumen of Development Aid, local organisations and many others will speak about Dutch leadership in the AIDS response. The HIV/AIDS Platform includes STOP AIDS NOW! and other Dutch AIDS organisations.
