STOP AIDS NOW! HIV and livelihoods programme launched
October 15, 2012
On 16th of October 2012 the Linking and Learning project on HIV and livelihoods was launched. The representatives of ten Ethiopian organisations and STOP AIDS NOW! signed the MoU. In this project the organisations form a community of practice to explore new insights on identified HIV mainstreaming gaps.
In the community of practice
both NGOs, and microfinance institutions as well as a network of PLHIV
associations are represented. Jointly they aim to improve the quality of livelihood
programmes addressing the needs of HIV affected people and communities. The
group is keen to make the livelihoods interventions more HIV sensitive, meaning
inclusive, accessible and relevant for families affected by HIV/AIDS.
Simultaneously, members of the community of practice implement projects in the field. This enables the organisations to adopt their intervention strategy based on new learnings throughout the project period. Ultimately the interventions should lead to improved social status (reduced discrimination and stigma), improved livelihood potential, increased resilience to livelihood challenges and reduced risky sexual behaviour.
